NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — The Metropolitan Transportation Authority is advising Long Island Rail Road customers to expect canceled and diverted trains as well as delays during the morning rush hour on Monday.
The service disruptions are due to the derailment of a non-passenger train in the railroad’s Westside Yard.
The MTA said crews will be working overnight to re-rail the derailed cars.
Monday is also the first day that many commuters will see an increase in fares for the Long Island Rail Road. The MTA hiked fares for tickets by 4 percent beginning Sunday.
